AO 2012 – underway. It’s getting hot, hot, hot.

22 Jan

Melbourne has a way of turning the furnaces on when play begins at the Australian Open. After a mild summer the extreme heat returned today with the thermometer reaching 36 degrees – and you can easily add 5-10 degrees to this for the court temperature down at player level in the concrete canyons of Rod Laver Arena, Hisense Arena and all of the show courts. A good test of all players fitness, preparation, mental toughness and fighting qualities.

*** The Pro will be looking in detail at all of these aspects (preparation, physical, mental toughness, technical and tactical)of the game following the Australian Open, and my regular blog will aim to assist players, parents and fellow coaches with tips and advice.

The PRO.
